Prints

How did we make prints?

First we were looking for mountain animals’ footprints on the internet, for example golden eagle, mountain lion and yak.  We had to copy and paste the animal footprint picture onto a google document. It had to be 6x6 cms. Then we had to share it with Miss Owens. Miss Owens printed the pictures.
The next week we got a piece of foam and a picture of a mountain animal footprint and some tracing paper.
First we traced the picture onto the tracing paper with a blunt graphite pencil.
Then we put the tracing paper onto the foam and used our nails to rub it onto the foam.
Next we cut the foam carefully on the lines and stuck the pieces of foam onto the wood in the shape of the footprint.
The following week with some colourful paints we painted the footprints and printed them on a piece of paper.  We are going to use these for decorating the door for world book day.
Please come and see our classroom door on Thursday 7th March if you would like to see our prints.

Number Day

Thanks to everyone who supported our fundraising morning for the NSPCC.

We took part in lots of different maths games this morning and performed a rock song :)

National Geographic Day

National Geographic Day
Thank you to everyone who brought in their pictures for the map.  It was fun guessing
where the pictures were taken.
We have had a great day and we would like to say a huge thank you to Oliver from Hungary who shared
his Himalaya story via skype this morning.
Oliver hiked to the Everest Base Camp (5364m) within 9 days. The children asked him lots of questions about his time there. We were really impressed and hope he can share more climbing stories in the future!

Teeth Models

In year 3 / 4 we have been learning about teeth and pretending to be dentists. We studied the shape of our teeth and made a model out of clay.

Science lessons

Year 3 / 4 have been learning about the digestive system and teeth in Science.  So far, they have demonstrated what happens when you eat food, using lots of resources to show how the main organs work (oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestine). In small groups, they modelled how food is cut up and showed its journey through the digestive system.  Year 3 / 4 have also recreated the digestive system using objects from home.  Thank you to everyone who brought in some 'junk' materials.

Bupa dental team came to visit and explained the importance of dental hygiene.

This week our dental students learnt about the importance of brushing their teeth. They were able to identify plaque and explain problem areas.
